How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Many people will notice improvement after one HydraFacial®, and follow up treatments help you to maintain your clean skin. It is best to have treatments every two to four weeks until your acne is under control.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are also effective for acne because they exfoliate the damaged skin cells and deep clean pores. Mild to moderate acne can be treated with superficial peels.
How Do Chemical Peels Work?
Chemical peels involve the topical application of acids to the skin. Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta alpha hydroxy acids (BHAs) are the peeling agents typically used for superficial peels.
Our technician will cleanse your face and then apply the acid. The solution is left on your skin for a few minutes and then removed with a neutralizing agent.
Chemical peels reduce acne by exfoliating dead skin cells and removing excess oil and bacteria within the pores. Unclogging the pores helps to reduce pimples.
The skin will be sensitive to the sun after a chemical peel, but wearing sunscreen will prevent sun damage.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
It usually takes a series of 4-5 chemical peels to achieve the best results. Sessions are spaced 1-2 weeks apart. The results of a chemical peel can be seen about 2-3 weeks after the procedure.
While one type of treatment may be all that’s needed to clear your acne, sometimes a combination of techniques is the best approach.
